Even 400kg (880 lbs) is a very, very stretched estimate for any cat...while I believe it is not totally impossible for the tiger....I wouldn't credit any of these pictures we posted 400kg+.

That young kaziranga tiger caught in well itself is easily around 750lbs or more upto 825lbs. Then imagine adult tigers definitely 900-1000lbs. PTR 10 is definitely close (or equal) to 1000lbs in my honest opinion.

If a tiger is not captive, I would bet my bank there are no 1000 lb tigers (in the wild)

roflcopters wrote:for some reason i was unable to follow up on my previous post so i will just finish it all here. KZT_023 looked extremely huge from a far away distance so just imagine how big he would have looked from a close up range..how do you know for sure that KZT_024 killed him? I have seen you going around saying KZT_024 killed him without any proof. If i remember correctly..the numbers aren't given according to territories... it's just who gets caught up first and is tagged with the number..he could have died in a territorial fight with another male..so if you're not sure..you can't make it 100% that KZT_024 was the killer tiger..it's an opinion and i know logically people would think hey KZT_022 and KZT_024 could be the only ones but not really..these tigers were caught and tagged with those numbers..it doesn't necessarily mean that KZT_024 was KZT_023's neighbour or a rival that took over his territory..it's possible if they were tagged according to their territories but something tells me that these guys were randomly captured and tagged with names.. overall DJL..I am quite impressed with your work and you did a fantastic job with the young Kaziranga giant with those pictures that you recently showed me..really i am quite impressed and i know your a good credible poster and anything you say is just as valuable as others..don't let people put you down..you're a good guy and your opinions of 800-900lbs are not wrong..I don't really share the 900lb view but i am positive if a record tiger who was randomly caught and weighed a staggering 857lb then there must be some even larger lurking around Assam, India and Terai region..hell even Southern and Central Indian tigers are not so far off...the biggest achievement in my opinion comes from Bandhavgarh..these giants never had the luxury to prey on Gaurs because it was never available to them.. (I know there are 49 Gaurs in Bandhavgarh now with the Gaur project in effect but they are still caged so tigers can't get to them there and still the size Bamera has is really close to Waghdohs..) Panna too was a mysterious place..supposedly had the second worst prey density in all of India and yet it produced the biggest Central Indian Specimens in those days..nature sure surprises us sometimes eh? Good work once again and stay strong with your words..remember you are supported and backed by science..nothing can go wrong ;) CheersRoflcopters, really it is great to get your support and also other people around here. Thank you very much. But first of all I did not say that KZT 024 killed KZT 023 confirmedly. I said it may be the one who killed KZT 023, most probably was the one who killed KZT 023. I know they are not given as per their side by territories, I too doubted that, but tigris told me that KZT 024 was stalking KZT 023 and were caught by the same camera, really I too was confused with that. But I thought may be who knows the truth, that could have happened, so I just left it like that. I will try to ask any experts regarding that and clarify it.
And regarding the weights of the tigers, yes, roflcopters even I too was surprised Bandhavgarh and Panna tigers without any preybase of gaur or anyother megaherbivore grew/grow to huge sizes. I too wanted to ask many people about this. But just left that aside unknowingly because of other topics. And regarding giants, i am certain there are 900lbs and above tigers in Assam. May be 800-900lbs are present in Terai and Nepal region. Most recently now I was trying to compare PTR 10, the most probable same young kaziranga tiger, with grown up mature liger Hercules (who is now 900-1000lbs). We know the young kaziranga tiger (PTR 10) was 120cms tall(may be even more), even then I made him much shorter. But the result as always is shocking. I find no reason to deny that the giant assam tigers are 900-1000lbs really. Even KZT 110, KZT 024 are very much on par with hercules the liger. I even shown you their comparisons scaling them to minimum heights of 110cms, who knows they may be like the young kaziranga tiger who was 120cms or more tall. If they are 120cms taller, definitely most of the captive specimens with exception of 1000lbs and more tigers and ligers will be put to shame.
Here it is, comparison of hercules to PTR 10
If PTR 10 is made to high potential shoulder heights, hercules is pitiful. I will post that after sometime.
And moreover, this forum is like safe haven for tiger lovers and tiger fans Copters. You absolutely have zero tolerance for bashing of lion fanatics. Keep up the good work and keep this forum safe.

roflcopters wrote:DJL, I honestly believe that big adult males from Kaziranga have a good 100-150lb on tigers like Waghdoh, Konda, Hairyfoot, Bamera, Madla etc etc ..so say if Waghdoh is 660lbs then these Kaziranga guys should be roughly close to 700lb-800lb and that's extremly huge for a tiger. One thing i did notice is that Kaziranga tigers do have the dimensions big enough to support the 700lb - 800lb figure..they are just awfully long..serious scientific research is lacking in this park otherwise it's game over litterally..no one is even gonna doubt that..I have showed these pictures to people on the facebook group and they are all literally amazed by the impressive sizes of the Kaziranga Group.. see this male for example, what are your chances of finding a male this long and heavy at the same time? I don't think i have seen anything like this guy before ever..try it for yourself..look at him from this point of view. How much weight you think is in the stomach region alone? I even had difficulty making a proper rectangle around this guy this should end any further conversation..I know you are throwing names like KZT_024 must be the largest, KZT110 must be the largest, PTR10 must be the largest, KZT023 must be the largest but really they are all extremely huge.. this guy to my finding displays great potential as a 800lb candidate..there is no way Waghdoh would ever rival this guy..Waghdoh is probably at his peak right now but his peak doesn't come close to this.. it's just not happening..take this guy for example:King-Za-Ranga II: The Biggest Tiger!Saw this tiger on the very first drive in Kaziranga during my visit in March 11. Took all the possible patience before his Royal Highness appeared. Saw him twice earlier though over a 2 hour period but no chance to take a picture. He was quite far but, managed a couple of shots with 200mm before he disappeared again!!Comments: Kanwar Juneja wrote,@19-04-2011 21:38:53Actually I'm yet to see a bigger tiger than this one!!!
Sorry had a power cut here. So could not reply right away. Roflcopters, that tiger huge definitely, but it is certainly not as big as the giant KZT 110, KZT 024, KZT 023. Even these tigers are longer too. But their huge chest girths mask the true length of these tigers. That tiger is not as heavy as any of the KZT's. When i scaled them to equal heights (which is unlikely IMHO), here is the result, (Moreover KZT 024 head is turned to one side, so it must be even longer). That tiger appears to biggest in the small pixelated camera trap pictures.
And moreover here is another of the same male,
And that KZT 023 clicked by INW photographer is huge and definitely one of the largest . But KZT 024 and KZT 110 are even big in my opinion. And if you want to see the longer tigers, then here is the one I guess to be the longest photographed tiger. Assuming the cage to be around 15-16feet, the tiger easily has over 7 1/2 - 8feet head body length, may be even more as the body of the tiger is slightly bent at the shoulder head region. This young kaziranga tiger seems to be even longer than that tiger you provided above and even longer than KZT 024 in my honest opinion.
You can even look at my signature picture, I scaled KZT 024 to 15cms shorter than hercules, even then he is longer than hercules that is advertised to be 12 feet long(ofcourse not). If we scale KZT 024 to it's true potential height which we do not know then surely he is going to be no less than 11feet, around 11-12feet length along with KZT 110. PTR 10(most probably the above young tiger) appears to be even longer in my honest opinion.
